Jonker, van die Rooiheuwel-distrik buite Oudtshoorn, is Sondag 27 September omstreeks 12:50 vermis toe die vloedwater hom en sy bruin Toyota Land Cruiser meegesleur het by 'n laagwaterbrug oor die Olifantsrivier, ongeveer 3 km buite die dorp. Jonker, of the Rooiheuwel district outside Oudtshoorn, went missing on Sunday 27 September at around 12:50 when floodwater swept him and his brown Toyota Land Cruiser away at a low-water bridge over the Olifants River, about 3 km outside town. The river was in full flood after heavy rainfall in the catchment area south of Beaufort West. He was on his way back from his usual rounds on the farm.

Die Oudtshoorn Christelike Jeugforum het sy 16de Erfenisfees suksesvol afgehandel — met 'n optog teen bendegeweld, sport, potjiekos en 'n memorandum aan die Burgemeester. The Oudtshoorn Christian Youth Forum successfully wrapped up its 16th Heritage Festival — with a march against gang violence, sport, potjiekos and a memorandum to the Mayor.

In die optog is bendegeweld sterk aangespreek. 'n Memorandum is aan die Burgemeester, mnr. Van der Ross, oorhandig, wat in sy toespraak belowe het dat hy drasties aandag aan die versoeke sal gee. 'n Memorandum is ook aan dr. Botha vir die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens oorhandig. Gang violence was strongly addressed in the march. A memorandum was handed to the Mayor, Mr Van der Ross, who promised in his speech that he would give the requests drastic attention. Daar word onder meer aangevoer dat beleid soos regstellende aksie en swart ekonomiese bemagtiging nie sonder 'n rasklassifikasiestelsel uitgevoer kan word nie. In 'n radio-onderhoud het Suzanne met Glen Snyman van People Against Race Classification (PARC) gesels. PARC is nie 'n politieke party nie. Rescue SA Civil Rights Alliance and two individuals recently filed a motion with the High Court opposing the constitutionality of South Africa's 142 race-based laws. Among other things, it's argued that policies such as affirmative action and black economic empowerment cannot be carried out without a race-classification system. In a radio interview, Suzanne spoke with Glen Snyman of People Against Race Classification (PARC). PARC is not a political party.

The Population Registration Act was already repealed by parliament in 1991.

'n Nuwe klassifikasie wet? “Dan is dit net so goed soos dat hulle apartheid terugbring. Dan is ons terug by die potlood toets.” A new classification law? “Then it's just as good as bringing back apartheid. Then we're back at the pencil test.”

Velkleur kan nie die enigste kwalifikasie wees wat deure oopmaak nie. If the motion succeeds: PARC hopes all race checkboxes are removed, and that people get jobs based on qualifications, merit and competence — not skin colour. Skin colour cannot be the only qualification that opens doors.
